Where are you located?
The address for our office is 112 Main Street, Winters, California.

How long have you been in business?
We have been in the steel building business since 1975 - 30 years (we incorporated in 1997).

Are you a broker?
No. We deal exclusively with one manufacturer allowing us to provide our clients with the knowledge and confidence that the building they purchase is not a building that has not been pieced together from several different locations; rather it is manufactured in one factory for you!

I am not sure that I want to build with steel. Why steel instead of wood?

There are several reasons. For one thing, steel buildings generally cost significantly less to build per square foot than other types of construction. Steel buildings are incredibly strong and can withstand natural forces better than almost any other type construction. They are extremely versatile; their "clearspan" frames bear all the load, so you need no internal walls or columns to help support them. Steel is not affected by damp rot or insect infestation. They will not warp, crack, or require regular maintenance. Also, steel is not a combustible material. These factors generally lead to lower insurance cost and make the already low price of a steel building even more attractive. Construction time is generally shorter so you can occupy your building quicker.

Will I need a building permit for my building?
In most cases yes, but not always. For example, in some locations no permit is required to erect agricultural buildings. You should definitely check with your local building department before buying a building from us or anyone else.

Are permit fees included with the price of the building?
No. There are more than 3600 counties and independent cities in the United States, each with their own code requirements and fee schedules. Check with your local building department.

What does the base building price include?
The base building price is the delivered price for the framing, sheeting, basic trim, and fasteners necessary to construct a fully sheeted building of the specified size and code and load requirements and any accessories that customer requests.

Does all the hardware come with these buildings?
All the parts you need to assemble your building are included except for the anchor bolts (we will supply anchor bolts if we are doing the concrete work) – otherwise check with your concrete contractor.

What kind of drawings do I get?
Metal building engineering, which includes, anchor bolt setting plan, base plate details and complete construction drawings. Some suppliers promise drawings within days. Make sure these are certified, wet stamped, can be used to obtain your permit and that extra charge will not apply. You can expect to receive your drawing within two to three weeks.

What doesn’t come with the building?
Insulation and roll up doors are typically shipped separately.

I'm looking for a building smaller than 30 feet wide. Can you help?
Yes, we can. We offer many small size buildings.

Do you guarantee my price quote for 30 days?
Because of instability in steel prices, Solano Construction is not currently guaranteeing quotes for any specified time period.

Where do you ship from?
Our buildings are shipped from 24 manufacturing and distribution points across the continental United States of America and Mexico.

Do I need a foundation for my building?
You will at least need concrete piers for the columns to anchor to. Generally a full slab is used, but if you are using the building on a farm or ranch and plan to have dirt, gravel, or sawdust floors a pier system may be preferable. In these situations, a popular option is to combine piers with a concrete footing around the perimeter of the building. Because our buildings themselves arrive so quickly (6-8 weeks), builders have very little if any down time between finishing the slab and beginning to erect the building.

What slab thickness do you recommend?
Slab thickness must be determined by a foundation engineer or your local officials. A minimum 4" slab is required for a metal building.

Do you provide the pier or foundation engineering?
Only if we are doing the erection of the building. Your foundation or pier system needs to be designed for the soil conditions in your area, you need a local engineer to do your foundation plan. Along with your erection drawings, we supply an anchor bolt plan with reactions, which will provide the engineer the information he needs about the building loads.

Will I need to unload my building?
Yes, unless Solano Construction is contracted to erect it for you. A 6000 pound forklift is recommended. If your building site does not have access for a 75' truck, an alternate unloading site should be arranged. Make sure the building is protected from weather after unloading. Check your erection manual for details.

I don’t need a building, but I do need sheeting to repair a building I own now. Can I buy these from you?
Yes, we can take component orders for sheeting and other accessories, such as doors, vents, etc. Please call our office for this special request.

Does your company finance?
No, sorry, you will have to provide your own financing.

Will Solano Construction provide me with a turn key project?
Absolutely! If you are within our construction area we will be happy to assist you with your entire project from start to finish. This could include site preparation, electrical, plumbing and interior improvements.
